My 6 and a half year old daughter lost her first tooth a couple of months ago(on a weekday). When Aisha then asked me about the Toothfairy , I told her she would be coming over the weekend and I remember my daughter mentioning the same to her class teacher. She then forgot about and it and probably me too.
Cut to the present, Aisha has about 4 teeth moving and shaking since about a week or so. This time she wants to be sure she has done all the prep. And shortlists what gift she will request from the fairy in addition to the gold coins ๐. Its a kiddo walkie talkie. But the wait is long.
And finally yesterday, she keeps getting restless about how her teeth is about to fall but was not and how its making her uneasy to eat anything. Its 9 pm and off she goes to brush her teeth and comes back exclaiming in a minute "My tooth has fallen off, my tooth has fallen off". Off she rushes to get a piece of paper to write her request letter. She puts her tooth in a ziplock pack and comes back determined . She writes a letter, checking with me on the spellings. And just when she goes looking for her tooth pouch, she finds it empty. All hell breaks loose and everyone is looking for the tooth in the kitchen area where the empty pouch was found. I happened to use garlic in a dish made earlier , hence there were a few pieces of chopped garlic here and there. Each piece was carefully analysed if it was the missing tooth๐.
My daughter was visibly upset but i have not laughed my guts out so much in a while now. The entire scene was so hilarious. There was even a garlic chop with a brownish taint and i was like "see , i can see the cavity too in the fallen tooth". My daughter was not amused and was about to burst out in tears. From her perspective , why would the tooth fairy entertain her request with the main player(tooth) missing ?
I somehow console her and send her to her room to sleep. Out she pops in a minute. She had kept the tooth pouch near the pillow. She had seen a similar pouch in the kitchen and mistakenly thought it was the same pouch. The commotion sorted , all of us were relieved .
I decide to keep the gold coins (dollars) near her pillow before she wakes up.
She wakes up this morning when hubby goes in to get her and seems terribly upset. Hubby cant understand why. When I go in to ask her , she tells me with an absolute sad face that the fairy did not appear. She was heartbroken. I curse myself for having forgotten and quickly step out to get a paper, do some design on it , write "I love you Aisha, Love Toooth Fairy ๐". Now i quickly scan my purse that remained untouched for last 2 months for a gold coin. Alas, I dont find it. I find a 5 dollar note and promptly put it along with the letter and drop it under the quilt. I then tell Aisha that the Tooth Fairy did come . She cant believe it. She sees the letter , read "Toooth Fairy". I tell her the extra "o" was because she was losing 2 or more teeth this week. And then she jumps on seeing the note . 5Dollars really? She exclaims . Yes !! , I say. She then explains to me that the fairy was happy since she was a gooood and well behaved girl.
Aisha now is out of her room, happy , excited , content and most importantly with a belief that fairies do exist . I quickly whisper to my son to quietly listen to her story and not try dampening her spirits . Aisha then goes on to explain why shes special and why she got 5D and not 2D as other kids get. And when I ask Aisha how the fairy managed the extra 3 dollars, Aisha firmly replies in belief " That is not a problem for the fairy , she has a wand , if needed she uses it more than once ".... And then the day goes on..
